QuestAway Beginner Guide
QuestAway combines map progression, automated combat, hero development, equipment upgrades, and Workbench crafting. New players should prioritize a stable party and sustainable progression before investing heavily in optional upgrades or converting valuable materials.
Establish the Core Progression Loop
Push the map until combat becomes inefficient, then use idle or automated combat to accumulate experience, equipment, currency, and crafting materials. Return to progression attempts after improving the party with the resources earned while away.
- Advance through available map content
- Collect idle combat rewards regularly
- Use failed or slow stages as a signal to upgrade the party
- Repeat the cycle of progression, farming, and improvement
Build a Balanced Starting Party
Start with a team that can survive extended encounters while maintaining consistent damage. Combine durable frontline options with damage and utility rather than filling every position with the same role.
- Keep at least one dependable defensive role
- Add consistent damage for map clearing
- Use healing, control, or other utility when available
- Invest in a small core roster instead of spreading resources across every hero
Prioritize Hero and Class Development
Upgrade the heroes and classes that are actively carrying the current team. Follow the passive tree and class skill tree in a focused direction so that each investment supports the hero's intended role.
- Level the main party before reserve characters
- Choose passive nodes that reinforce the hero's role
- Avoid purchasing unrelated branches too early
- Review the team after unlocking a new class or major skill
Use Equipment and Gems Efficiently
Equip upgrades that improve the current party's main needs, such as survivability, damage, or resource efficiency. Keep useful higher-rarity items and avoid spending scarce enhancement materials on equipment that will be replaced immediately.
- Replace clearly weaker equipment
- Match equipment bonuses to the wearer's role
- Reserve valuable gems for stable equipment
- Delay expensive enhancement decisions until the item is worth keeping
Learn the Workbench Before Spending Materials
The Workbench provides systems for forging, potions, selling, conversion, enhancement, socketing, and enchanting. Compare the immediate benefit of an action with the material value of the item before confirming it.
- Use forging to improve the equipment available to the party
- Craft potions when consumables solve a current progression barrier
- Sell clearly unwanted items rather than useful upgrades
- Convert materials only when the resulting resource has a defined purpose
- Socket or enchant equipment that is expected to remain in use
Spend Early Currency Conservatively
Gold is most valuable when it directly improves progression. Prioritize the active party, useful equipment, and essential Workbench actions before investing in secondary characters or speculative upgrades.
- Fund the main team's immediate upgrades first
- Keep a reserve for equipment and Workbench costs
- Avoid upgrading every available hero at once
- Do not sell or convert materials without checking their future uses

QuestAway Builds
A strong build starts with a defined job. Choose passive-tree nodes and class skills that reinforce that job, then use equipment, gems, and abilities to cover the team's biggest weakness instead of stacking unrelated bonuses.
Map Progression Core
Stable all-purpose setup for pushing new map stages
Recommended Team: Durable frontline, consistent primary damage, and one flexible support or utility role
Passive Tree
- Prioritize survivability on the frontline
- Choose reliable damage nodes for the main damage dealer
- Take utility nodes only when they solve a repeated progression problem
Class Skill Tree
- Select skills that function consistently across ordinary encounters
- Avoid highly specialized options until the team can already clear standard stages
- Keep at least one defensive or recovery option in the overall party
Equipment: Use the best practical combination of offensive stats for damage roles and defensive stats for the frontline. Replace temporary items when a clear upgrade appears.
Gems: Place gems on equipment that is expected to remain equipped for several progression steps.
Abilities: Favor reliable damage, survivability, and control over effects that require a narrow encounter condition.
Idle Farming Setup
Maintain consistent automated combat and resource collection
Recommended Team: A low-maintenance party with enough durability to avoid frequent failures and enough damage to clear efficiently
Passive Tree
- Favor consistent damage and defensive efficiency
- Choose nodes that reduce the chance of stalled or failed automated encounters
- Avoid fragile burst choices when they make the team unreliable
Class Skill Tree
- Prioritize repeatable skills with dependable value
- Use team-wide utility when it improves the stability of automated combat
- Keep the setup simple enough to perform without manual intervention
Equipment: Balance damage and survivability so the party can farm for extended periods without constant intervention.
Gems: Use spare gems on stable farming equipment after the main progression set is secured.
Abilities: Select effects that provide sustained performance rather than only short-duration burst windows.
Boss Damage Setup
Concentrate the party's output on a durable single target
Recommended Team: A protected primary damage dealer supported by a frontline and utility that improve uptime or reduce incoming pressure
Passive Tree
- Invest in focused damage for the main damage role
- Use survivability nodes where they prevent the damage dealer from losing uptime
- Select support nodes that directly improve the party's ability to remain active
Class Skill Tree
- Choose skills with strong value against a single durable target
- Favor reliable damage windows over effects designed only for groups
- Retain enough defensive utility to survive the full encounter
Equipment: Give the strongest offensive equipment to the main damage dealer and durable equipment to the character responsible for absorbing pressure.
Gems: Concentrate high-value gems on the equipment pieces that directly affect boss damage or survival.
Abilities: Use single-target damage, damage amplification, defense reduction, or survival tools when available to the composition.
PvP Control Setup
Create a team that can survive opposing pressure while disrupting enemy plans
Recommended Team: A resilient core supported by control, utility, or priority damage rather than a team built only for fast PvE clearing
Passive Tree
- Prioritize effective durability and resistance to disruption
- Improve the role that determines the team's opening plan
- Avoid overcommitting to slow PvE-only bonuses
Class Skill Tree
- Choose skills that influence enemy actions or protect key allies
- Build around the team's intended opening sequence
- Use flexible options when the opposing composition is unknown
Equipment: Balance offensive pressure with enough defensive value to survive the opponent's first cycle of actions.
Gems: Use gems to reinforce the team's win condition, whether that is durability, control consistency, or focused damage.
Abilities: Favor control, protection, disruption, and priority-target tools over effects that require long uninterrupted farming encounters.
QuestAway Loot and Crafting Guide
Loot management is part of long-term progression. Before selling, converting, enhancing, socketing, or enchanting an item, identify whether it fills an immediate equipment slot, supports a future build, or provides materials that are difficult to replace.
Loot Categories
Category: Weapons
Primary Use: Increase the offensive capability of the equipped hero
Keep When: The weapon is a meaningful upgrade, has useful attributes, or supports a planned damage build
Sell or Convert When: It is clearly weaker than the active equipment and has no relevant future use
Category: Armor
Primary Use: Improve survivability and support frontline or defensive roles
Keep When: It improves the active party's durability or has valuable attributes for a planned defensive build
Sell or Convert When: It is obsolete and does not provide a useful upgrade path
Category: Jewelry
Primary Use: Provide complementary attributes and specialized build value
Keep When: Its attributes complete a hero's role or support a specialized setup
Sell or Convert When: It does not improve the current party and has no planned build application
Category: Materials
Primary Use: Support Workbench crafting, conversion, enhancement, and other progression systems
Keep When: The material is required for a known upgrade or a regularly used Workbench action
Sell or Convert When: Only after confirming it is not needed for near-term progression
Category: Gems
Primary Use: Add specialized value to compatible equipment
Keep When: The gem fits a stable item and reinforces the hero's intended role
Sell or Convert When: It does not match any current or planned build and storage value is limited
Rarity Guide
Rarity: Common
Role: Basic progression and early replacement equipment
Recommended Action: Equip when it is an immediate upgrade; otherwise sell, convert, or use it for early Workbench progression
Rarity: Uncommon
Role: Improved temporary or developing build equipment
Recommended Action: Keep useful pieces for the active party and compare attributes before replacing them
Rarity: Rare
Role: Stronger equipment with greater potential for focused builds
Recommended Action: Inspect attributes carefully before selling, converting, enhancing, socketing, or enchanting
Rarity: Eternal
Role: High-value equipment intended for long-term use
Recommended Action: Reserve major enhancement, socketing, and enchanting investments for pieces that fit a stable build
Workbench Actions
Action: Forge
Purpose: Create or improve equipment through the Workbench
Best Practice: Use forging to address a real equipment gap instead of spending materials on random upgrades
Action: Craft Potions
Purpose: Turn materials into consumables for combat support
Best Practice: Craft potions when they solve a progression or encounter problem and keep essential materials available
Action: Sell
Purpose: Convert unwanted loot into currency
Best Practice: Sell obsolete items only after checking their attributes, rarity, and possible use in another build
Action: Convert
Purpose: Exchange one resource or item type for another useful resource
Best Practice: Convert surplus resources only when the destination resource has a clear immediate purpose
Action: Enhance
Purpose: Invest additional resources into equipment
Best Practice: Enhance equipment that will remain useful instead of heavily upgrading temporary items
Action: Socket
Purpose: Add a compatible gem to equipment
Best Practice: Socket stable equipment and match the gem to the hero's role and intended build
Action: Enchant
Purpose: Add or improve specialized equipment value
Best Practice: Enchant items that already have a strong foundation and are likely to remain part of the long-term setup
